The handles have a square spindle that extends from the handle's back and locks into the multi-point locking mechanism of the window. By turning the handle, you operate the system that locks and unlocks the locking points around the window.

Some have an option to push-button to lock the' closed position and key-locking (and fire-escape non-locking where required). Many of them meet the Secure by Design specification to add an extra layer of security. Yale has tested the espagnolette handles we provide to ensure that they meet all the standards you would expect. They are suitable for Upvc windows or timber windows, as well as frames made of aluminum. We have a range of colors and match the handle with your hinges.
Another important feature of espagnolette handles is their step height. This is the distance from the top of the handle to where it rests on the frame, so it's essential to get it right so that you can ensure a tight and secure fit. Most of our handle styles are 43mm apart between the screw hole centres, which is industry standard.
You can choose between straight or cranked handles. Cranked handles are great for situations where the espagnolette handle will be placed close to the frame's edge as they will give you more space to open the window.

The cockspur window handles come provided with 3 packing pieces of differing thickness, allowing them to be adjusted to a broad range of backset sizes. Each piece of packing fits perfectly beneath the handle's nose and can be removed or incorporated into the dimensions of the step to achieve a different backset which ranges from 9mm up to 21mm. The handle is also available in right or left handed versions and with a straight or curved nose design.
It is important to measure the height of your current handle before purchasing a new handle in order to make sure it fits correctly. The wrong handle can lead to a variety of issues, including the inability of the window to be closed. This can be a nuisance for homeowners and result in stress that is not needed.

When you turn the espagnolette handle it opens the Yale Encloser locking system that is much more secure than a conventional handle, such as a cockspur or British standard. This is because when you turn the handle of the espagnolette it turns several locks inside the window frame to secure it.
